Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, is celebrated by Chinese people around the world and is one of the most important traditional Chinese festivals. 2016 celebrates the Year of the Monkey. This stamp pack consists of three miniature sheets of the same design issued by Australia Post to celebrate the Year of the Monkey 2016. The stamps feature a stylised Chinese calligraphic symbol, as well as a floral pictorial illustration, of the Chinese character for Monkey. Although having the same design, each miniature sheet uses a different printing method and paper or material :
The top miniature sheet is offset-printed on Tullis Russell Red Phosphor paper and is the same miniature sheet in the normal presentation pack.
The middle miniature sheet is digitally printed on real silk, is gummed and perforated.
The bottom miniature sheet is also digitally printed, but on a silk-like rayon paper, and is self-adhesive with mesh perforation.
All three miniature sheets have been embellished with Milford Astor gold foil.
