The first game of official test rugby took place on 24 Jun 1899. Above stamps were issued to commemorate 100 years of test rugby in Australia, featuring illustrative images of the Wallabies against four other nations – New Zealand and England (45c se-tenant), South Africa (AU$1.00) and Wales (AU$1.20). Each stamp also illustrates different aspect of the game – a lineout and a kick (45c se-tenant), a try (AU$1.00) and a pass (AU$1.20).
