Australian Legends are honoured for their significant contributions to the national identity and heritage within their lifetimes. The Australian Legends Award 2000 pays tribute to the last Anzacs, who fought at Gallipoli, where the Anzac tradition was born. The stamps feature Walter Parker, Roy Longmore and Alec Campbell – the last surviving soldiers at the time of stamp issue. The fourth stamp features the 1914-15 Star, which was awarded to all men who fought in campaigns during 1914 and 1915.
