This joint stamp issue between Australia Post and Sweden Post features Swedish-born botanist and adventurer, Daniel Solander (1733-1782). Solander travelled as a naturalist with Cook and Banks on the Endeavour. The stamps in this issue feature an image of Solander against a watercolour illustration of Barringtonia calyptrata (45c and 8 kr) as well as a watercolour illustration of Cochlospermum gillivraei against a drawing of the Endeavour (AU$1.50 and 8 kr).
