The National Museum of Australia did not have a permanent home until 11 Mar 2001, when a purpose-built museum building was officially opened. Located in Canberra, the opening of the museum in 2001 is part of the celebrations marking the centenary of federation. The stamps in this issue combine details of the museum's architectural features in its design – the museum entry canopy with the architectural site plan as well as the museum skylights alongside the wallaby structure, Pangk.
