A continuation of the earlier stamp issue in 1999 on protected mammals in Malaysia (Series I issued on 28 May 1999), this second series focuses on the civets. Known as musang in Malay, they are nocturnal creatures that look like long-nosed cats. The stamps in this issue feature a few musang species, namely the Hose's Palm Civet, Asian Palm Civet, Masked Palm Civet, Malay Civet and the Small-toothed Palm Civet.
