The Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup are the symbols of badminton supremacy for the men's and women's team respectively. The 21st Thomas Cup and the 18th Uber Cup tournaments were held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11 to 21 May 2000. The stamps in this issue feature a man badminton player, the Thomas Cup alongside the flags of the eight teams qualified to the Final Stage, the tournament logo and mascot (BAMbee), the Uber Cup alongside the flags of the eight teams qualified to the Final Stage, as well as a female badminton player.
