Malaysia played host to the 7th Conference of Parties (COP-7) to the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) and the 1st Meeting of Parties (MOP-1) to the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (CPB) in 2004. Pos Malaysia issued a set of stamps to commemorate these events, with stamps featuring flora and fauna, where biodiversity studies (30 sen), the COP-7 CBD logo (50 sen) and biological contribution to the development of pharmaceuticals and other products during the era of biotechnology (50 sen).
