Albert Namatjira was the first Indigenous artist to paint and exhibit professionally in a Western style. During his lifetime he produced some two thousand pictures and also founded a school of painting. This stamp issue by Australia Post features four paintings by Albert Namatjira – Ghost Gum Mt Sonder, Mt Hermannsburg, Glen Helen Country and Simpsons Gap.
