His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was proclaimed as the ninth Sultan of Selangor on 22 Nov 2001 after the demise of his father, the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah. The formal coronation took place on 8 Mar 2003 at Istana Alam Shah, Klang. This stamp issue, to commemorate the coronation of His Royal Highness as the ninth Sultan of Selangor, features portraits of the Sultan. Two cover designs are available for this issue.
