The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place on 2 Jun 1953, more than twelve months after her accession. Australia Post issued a set of two stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation in 2003. The stamps feature a formal portrait of the Queen taken in Buckingham Palace during 1953 (50c) and the St. Edward's Crown (AU$2.45). This crown is worn only once in a sovereign's lifetime, which is during coronation.
