Japan animation stamps, also known as 'manga' stamps, date way back to the 1990s. In line with the increasing role of Japanese animation in the country's popular culture, there have been numerous stamp issues over the years featuring these anime characters. Hello Kitty postage stamps have become a staple within Japan Post's Japanese animation stamps category. This stamp issue in 2004 consists of 10 designs, out of which five are shown in above cover. The stamps feature Hello Kitty alongside flowers of different lovely colours.
