The lighthouses in Malaysia have its origin during the British rule since 1826. There were fifteen lighthouses that were collectively known as the Straits Settlement Lighthouses. The lighthouses featured in this stamp issue are the Muka Head Lighthouse in Pulau Pinang, the Althingsburg Lighthouse in Selangor, the Pulau Undan Lighthouse in Melaka and the One Fathom Bank Lighthouse in Selangor.
