Celebrating the growth and success of the Australian Wine Industry, this stamp issue illustrates the process involved in Australian wine production. About large area of wine plantings is devoted to red varieties, of which shiraz makes up about a third. Australia is known for its shiraz – one in four glasses of wine consumed is a shiraz. The stamps design adopt a photographic approach in illustrating the process in wine production – vineyard (50c), ripening grapes (50c), harvesting grapes (AU$1.00), casking wine (AU$1.00) and lastly glasses of wine, the end product of the whole process (AU$1.45).
