Of all the animals that can be kept as pets, dogs and cats are the most popular, which are being featured in this stamp issue by Australia Post, in conjunction with 2004 Stamp Collecting Month. The species of cats and dogs featured are the Labrador Retriever, black and white cat, West Highland Terriers, ginger and white kitten as well as the Jack Russell Terrier.
