This stamp issue on Islands Reef Sharks by Australia Post is part of their World Wildlife Fund (WWF) series, whereby the stamps design will carry the WWF logo. Australian sharks range greatly in size, with the smallest are about 50 cm in length while the largest might grow up to 10 metres. Two species of reef shark are being featured in this issue – the Blacktip Reef Shark (50c and AU$1.00) and the Grey Reef Shark (50c and AU$1.45).
