Since 1980, Australia Post has been issuing an annual Queen's Birthday stamp to coincide with the Queen's real birthday on 21 Apr, although the official celebration takes place in Australia in Jun (Oct in Western Australia). The stamp in this issue features a photographic image of The Queen as the head of the Commonwealth of Nations at the CHOGM meeting held in Queensland during 2002. The Pink-flowered Yellow Gum, Eucalyptus leucoxylon, is used as a decorative element on the stamp, with the Commonwealth Games logo used in the stamp design too.
