This joint issue between Australia Post and Royal Mail highlights world heritage sites from both countries. In 1972, UNESCO adopted the World Heritage Convention to safeguard areas which are considered to be of outstanding universal significance. There are eight stamps in this issue, with four stamps featuring Australian world heritage sites – the Greater Blue Mountain Area (50c), Wet Tropics of Queensland (50c), Purnululu National Park (AU$1.00) and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park (AU$1.80); and remaining four stamps featuring United Kingdom world heritage sites – the Blenheim Palace (50c), Stonehenge (50c), Heart of Neolithic Orkney (AU$1.00) and the Hadrian's Wall (AU$1.80). All eight stamp designs are jointly issued, with the stamps issued by Royal Mail are at the following denominations :

*  2nd Class º – Hadrian's Wall and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park
*  1st Class º – Stonehenge and Wet Tropics of Queensland
*  47 p – Blenheim Palace and Greater Blue Mountain Area
*  68 p – Heart of Neolithic Orkney and Purnululu National Park
