The XVIII Commonwealth Games was held in Melbourne from 15 to 26 Mar 2006. Considering the significant of the Games to Australia, Australia Post has issued a series of stamps to commemorate this event. The set of stamps above is the second set released in conjunction with the Games. The designs are based on some of the sporting events that make up the Commonwealth Games – athletics (50c), cycling (AU$1.25) and ball sport (AU$1.85).
