Melbourne hosted the 12th FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation) World Championships from 17 Mar to 1 Apr 2007, with approximately 2,000 athletes from 175 countries competed in five aquatic disciplines – swimming, open water swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming. The first FINA World Championships was held in Belgrade in 1973. This stamp issue of a single stamp commemorates this event, featuring an aquatic athlete in action.
