Scouting in Malaya was first introduced in Penang in 1908 as an experimental troop in YMCA before spreading throughout the entire Peninsular. Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia (Scouts Association of Malaysia, PPM) was established and officially regulated by an Act of Parliament through the Scouts Association of Malaysia (Incorporation) Act 1968. Celebrating 100 years of scouting in Malaysia, this stamp issue features scouts' involvement in various activities – map reading (30 sen), building and crossing a Monkey Bridge (50 sen) as well as various water activities introduced by PPM via the Sea Scout Unit, such as kayaking, swimming and diving (50 sen).
