In 2007, Malaysia celebrated the Golden Jubilee of its independence. Malaysia is no longer a colony and have moved forward with achievements in various fields. The first set of stamps in the Golden Jubilee Independence issue features the nation's achievements after 50 years of independence (30 sen), the historical event when the cry of Merdeka was heard throughout Malaya on 31 Aug 1957 (30 sen), the important moment of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj signing the Declaration of Independence (50 sen) as well as the logo of the Golden Jubilee celebration (50 sen).
