This issue is a continuation on the Lighthouses in Australia stamps issued back in 2002 (click here to find out more), which focused on lighthouses built in the 18th and 19th centuries. Since 1775 there has been a remarkable array of lighthouses, especially in terms of their architecture and construction. Many of the lighthouses in service were built in the 20th century and the stamps for this issue feature some of these remarkable structures – Port Lonsdale VIC (b.1902), Cape Don NT (b.1916), Wollongong Head NSW (b.1937), Casuarina Point WA (b.1971) and Point Cartwright QLD (b.1979).
