Several animals have evolved to live a semi aquatic life, of which their survival depends on their ability to access dry land and water habitats during different times of the day or during their life cycle. Natural habitats in Malaysia including mangroves, freshwater swamps, rivers, mudflats and human modified habitats such as rice fields provide these semi aquatic animals space and resources for their use. This stamp issue, in conjunction with 2006 Stamp Week in Malaysia, features semi aquatic animals such as the Giant Mudskipper (30 sen), Common Marine Hermit Crab (50 sen) and the Amboina Box Turtle (RM1.00).
