30 Dec 2004, a new world record was set. A woman explorer from an equatorial country took 22 days to ski-sail from South Pole to Hercules Inlet. Sharifah Mazlina Syed Abd Kadir, a sport science lecturer from UiTM, took up the challenge to conquer the Antarctic after doing months of research. And that's the highlight of this last stamp issue by Pos Malaysia in 2006. The stamps feature an image of the Antarctic, being the coldest, windiest and driest continent on earth (30 sen); an image of Sharifah Mazlina standing at the same spot where Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen became the first man to conquer Antarctic in 1911 (50 sen); as well as an image of Sharifah Mazlina ski-sailing across the Antarctic (RM1.00).
