2006 sees the 80th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. To honour this occasion, and the 50th anniversary of the hanging of the Pietro Annigoni portrait of the Queen, this stamp issue by Australia Post features the famous Portrait of Her Majesty by Pietro Annigoni (50), together with a photographic portrait taken at the same time by Cecil Beaton (AU$2.45). This is the first time this renowned portrait has been used on an Australian stamp.
