FIGO – the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics, founded in 1954, is the only worldwide organisation that group gynecologists and obstetricians. The mission of FIGO is to promote the wellbeing of women and to raise the standard of practice in gynecology and obstetrics. Malaysia played host to the XVIII FIGO World Congress, held in Kuala Lumpur from 5 to 10 Nov 2006. The stamps in this issue feature the federation's logo, with the acronym "FIGO" used as backdrop (30 sen), a silhouette of a young woman against the backdrop of a partial map of the world, representing the theme "Gynecology" (50 sen) as well as a graphical representation of a pregnant mother against a backdrop of a partial map of the world, representing the theme "Obstetrics" (50 sen).
