Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) or Malayan Railways Limited is the main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia. The railway system dates back to the British colonial era, when it was first built to transport tin. Previously known as the Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) and the Malayan Railway Administration (MRA), KTM acquired its current name in 1962. In conjunction with KTM's 125th anniversary in 2010, Pos Malaysia released a set of four stamps featuring the different types of locomotives used – Komuter, a commuter rail service serving the Klang Valley and Northern part of Malaysia (30 sen); Electric Train Service (ETS), a rapid intercity train service utilising electric train-sets (30 sen); Blue Tiger, the most powerful locomotive in KTM's fleet (50 sen); as well as 56 Class, a 4-6-2 locomotive operating with a tender (RM1.00).
