This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia was released to mark 750 years since the founding of Melaka. The stamps in this issue feature two of Melaka's oldest historical buildings – Cheng Hoon Teng Temple (50 sen) and Kampung Hulu Mosque (90 sen). Conventional historical thesis marks c. 1400 as the founding year of the Melaka by Parameswara, also known as Iskandar Shah. Having said that, a new finding by researchers from Universiti Sains Malaysia (published in 2011) indicated that Melaka was actually founded in the year 1262, which explained the 750 years of Melaka in 2012, the subject of this stamp issue. Which is the correct and reliable source? And if c. 1400 is still the correct year of founding, is this issue an error stamp then?
