This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia aims to educate the public to identify different fern species in Malaysia. A fern is a member of a group of vascular plants that reproduce via spores and have neither seeds nor flowers. Ferns are not of major economic importance, but some are used for food, medicine, as biofertilizer, as ornamental plants and for remediating contaminated soil. Five fern species featured in this stamp issue are the Flowering Fern (Kamraj) or Tunjuk Langit, Climbing Fern or Paku Miding, Staghorn Fern or Tanduk Rusa, Old World Forked Fern or Resam and the Vegetable Fern or Paku Sungai.
