This joint stamp issue between Pos Malaysia and Pos Indonesia aims to promote greater understanding and goodwill among the people of both nations. The stamps feature the national monuments of both countries – Tugu Negara of Malaysia and Tugu Proklamasi of Indonesia; first currency notes of both countries – Malaysia's first currency issued after independence and Matawang ORI of Indonesia; first stamps of both countries – Malaysia's first stamp issued after independence and Setem Tentera Surakarta of Indonesia; and fowl species of both countries – the Red Fowl of Malaysia and the Green Fowl of Indonesia. All designs are jointly issued, with the stamps issued by Pos Indonesia are at a denomination of 2,500 Rp.
