Three Christmas-themed stamp issues by Australia Post in 2009, compared to the normal two issues (one for Australia and Christmas Island respectively). This stamp issue, which features familiar symbols of the Christmas season, offers a secular alternative to the religious stamps focusing on the biblical Nativity story. The stamps instead feature elements associated with popular celebrations during the festive season itself – star and candles, Christmas tree, Santa's hat and wrapped gifts, Christmas bell and baubles, as well as Christmas stocking and candy canes.
