This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia was released to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, as well as in conjunction with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal visit to Malaysia from 13 to 15 Sep 2012. Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952 upon the death of her father, King George VI. As part of the celebration, the Queen, accompanied by H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh, are marking the occasion with a series of regional visits and engagements throughout the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Members of the Royal Family are also travelling overseas representing The Queen throughout the Diamond Jubilee year. The stamps in this issue, bordered with silver ink, feature an old stamp released on 2 Jun 1953 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, using a "stamp on stamp" design concept; as well as a photograph of Prince William and Kate Middleton to commemorate their visit. This is the first time a British Royalty is featured on a Malaysian stamp issue.
