An interesting and quirky stamp issue by Australia Post, Fair Dinkum Aussie Alphabet takes a light-hearted look at the larrikin culture and sense of humour for which Australians are known. This stamp issue is Part One of a series featuring an old-fashioned Aussie alphabet of humorous scenes, presenting five letters that just happen to represent five of Australia's states. Unpicking Australian's lingo to point out their beloved local places, attractions and products that mark them out as just a little bit Aussie, the stamps feature N for New South Wales, nipper and numbat; Q for Queensland, Quokka, queue and quoll; S for South Australia, shark, sandcastle, surf, starfish and sausage; V for Victoria, Victa, vegemite, vegetables and violin; as well as W for Western Australia, wombat, wattle, waratah and water hose.
