Having six legends from six popular Malay folk stories "stamped" and "immortalised" – that's what this set of stamps is all about. The stamps are available in three se-tenant designs, and they feature Mahsuri, Merong Mahawangsa, Hang Tuah, Tun Teja, Tun Kudu and Tun Fatimah. Of particular interest is Mahsuri, who was accused committing adultery and sentenced to death, where in her dying breath, she cursed that Langkawi would face misfortunes for seven generations to come. The locals in Langkawi believe the legend to be true, as it is only at the end of the 20th century, after the seven generations have supposedly come to pass, that Langkawi began to prosper as a tourist destination.
