Malaysian National Laureate are individuals who were awarded the Laureate for their contributions to the Malay literature. This set of stamps, the first in the National Laureates stamp series by Pos Malaysia, aims to honour Malaysia's national laureates for their outstanding contributions in producing world class literary works, to encourage the reading habit among Malaysians as well as to preserve their heritage through stamps. Launched during the International Book Fair Kuala Lumpur 2016, the stamps in this issue, engraved with copper metallic ink and silver matte background, feature three of the Laureates awarded in 1981, 1983, 1988 respectively – Kamaludin Muhammad (Keris Mas), Datuk Dr. Usman Awang (Tongkat Warrant) and Muhammad Dahlan Abdul Biang Andi (Arena Wati).
