The river transportation stamp series by Pos Malaysia is part of their efforts in educating stamp collectors and the public on various types of transportation in Malaysia. The existence of 55 navigable rivers in Sarawak means river transportation remains an integral component for their people to get from one place to another. For centuries, the rivers of Sarawak have been a primary means of transport as well as a route for timber and other agricultural goods moving downriver for export at the country's major ports. The river transportations featured in this issue are the Longboat (70 sen), Express Boat (80 sen) and the Ferry Boat (90 sen).
