Celebrating Malaysia Day in 2018, this stamp issue by Pos Malaysia highlights the art collection of the nation's renowned artist Syed Thajudeen, who is known for his large scale mural paintings of epic proportions set in period landscapes. The two stamps in this issue feature artwork from Thajudeen's "Merdeka" series. Malaysia as a nation has evolved and progressed since the historical proclamation of independence by Tunku Abdul Rahman. Thajudeen has successfully evoked a mixture of emotions with "Merdeka" and his indomitable pride in Malaysia is evident in his work. The grandeur of the Twin Towers and the majestic Putrajaya State Building, as illustrated in his work, represent the echelons of power and the pride of the nation. Little motifs of a bird and cloud morphed together evoke a sense of blessing, peace and prosperity.
