ASEAN was established on 8 Aug 1967 with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration by Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam joined subsequently, making up what is today the 10 member states of ASEAN. Commemorating the 50th anniversary of ASEAN in 2017, Pos Malaysia issued this national flower-themed stamp featuring the national flower of Malaysia, the Hibiscus. Seven members of ASEAN also used their respective national flower in their ASEAN commemorative stamps (apparently no stamp issue by Brunei, Laos and Myanmar). This is also the first time the stamp series will display ASEAN Post's new logo, which was won by Vietnam Post, as chosen by a majority of ASEAN Post countries.
