This stamp issue is Pos Malaysia's first ever cave-themed stamp issue and it aims to highlight the significance of caves to the general public, as well as promoting the nation's eco-tourism industry. Malaysia is home to many beautiful, mysterious caves, many of which are popular and some of which are unexplored. These caves can be found all over Peninsular Malaysia, mostly in limestone hills and the majority are above ground. Not forgetting those beautiful and magnificent caves found in Sabah and Sarawak too. In this stamp issue, featured alongside each cave is a common cave dweller. Taking the spotlight in this stamp issue are Gua Gomantong in Sabah and Black-nest Swiftlet; Gua Kelam in Perlis and Cave Centipede; as well as Gua Tempurung in Perak and Malayan Rasbora Fish.
