Sultan Muhammad V was elected by the Conference of Rulers on 14 Oct 2016 as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong. His reign began on 13 Dec 2016, taking over from Sultan Abdul Halim, the Sultan of Kedah. His Majesty was formally installed as Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 24 Apr 2017, and was the fourth youngest Yang di-Pertuan Agong to be elected. To commemorate this event, the single stamp in this issue, using gold print ink, features a portrait of His Majesty in formal attire as head of state.
