Malaysia was formed on 16 Sep 1963 with the incorporation of the Federation of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore under one banner. Singapore subsequently separated from Malaysia two years later, and hence Malaysia is made up of Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, as we see it today. Celebrating Malaysia Day in 2020, this stamp issue features the key historical moments of the formation of Malaysia on 16 Sep 1963, whereby the Proclamation of the Formation of Malaysia was held concurrently at three different locations – Stadium Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, Padang Sentral in Kuching, Sarawak and Padang Merdeka in Jesselton (Kota Kinabalu), Sabah.
