Before the introduction of tarmac roads and other modern transportation, rivers and their tributaries in Malaysia were main means of transportation. The rivers are also homes to various species of aquatic animals. Nowadays, rivers are used for other wide-ranging activities including eco-tourism. This stamp issue features a top-down view of the third longest river in Malaysia – Sungai Pahang in Pahang (60 sen) as well as the second longest river in Malaysia – Sungai Kinabatangan in Sabah (80 sen), at a length of 459 km and 560 km respectively.
