The world's tallest tropical tree, measuring at 100.8 metres tall and weighing at an estimated 81,500 kg, is a Yellow Meranti, which is located in the mixed dipterocarp forest of Danum Valley, Sabah. This tree has been named "Menara", which means "Tower" in the Malay language. This stamp issue by Pos Malaysia features the Yellow Meranti Fruit, known locally as Buah Seraya Kuning Siput, alongside an illustration of the Yellow Meranti tree. Every five years or so, trees in the upper most canopy layer will simultaneously flower and fruit, producing these winged fruits that spin like a helicopter when falling to the ground. This issue also comes with a miniature sheet – click here to find out more.
