This museum-themed stamp issue by Pos Malaysia features the Telegraph Museum in Taiping, issued in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia (TM) and in conjunction with the launching of the museum. This museum is the first telegraph museum in Southeast Asia and the second telecommunications museum in Malaysia, after the Telekom Museum in Kuala Lumpur. The Telegraph Museum is located in a building built in 1883 that used to house the first Post Office and Telegraph (P&T) office in Malaya. The museum features the history of telegraph communications system and how this technology contributed to the development of the nation. The stamps feature a Transmitter Key, a Receiver as well as the Gutta Percha tree, a Grinder Stone and the Submarine Cable. The submarine cable was the earliest in the world that used insulation materials from the Gutta Percha tree extract.
