Bridges have been part of modern human civilisation since the Mesopotamian era, and is a means of connectivity between two or more destinations, playing important roles in communication, development and socio-economic growth. This stamp issue highlights a couple of Malaysia's iconic bridges, chosen based on their unique designs as well as for their historical value. This is the fourth time Pos Malaysia has featured bridges in its stamp issues. Prior issues featuring bridges are Opening of Penang Bridge (15 Sep 1985), Bridges of Malaysia (28 Feb 2008) and The Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge, Penang (31 Dec 2014). This stamp issue meanwhile features Sultan Abdul Jalil Bridge in Kuala Kangsar, Perak (60 sen), Tamparuli Bridge in Tamparuli, Sabah (60 sen), Seri Wawasan Bridge in Putrajaya (80 sen) and Darul Hana Bridge in Kuching, Sarawak (80 sen).
