There are a total of 12 animal signs in the Chinese zodiac, which is based on five cycles of 12 years each. 2020 is the Year of the Metal Rat; the first of such in the 21st century. The previous Year of the Metal Rat was in 1960 which falls in the 20th century. Celebrating the Year of the Metal Rat, besides the annual zodiac stamps, Singapore Post also issued a Special Collector's Sheet with a commemorative S$10.00 stamp. The Collector's Sheet is encased in a folder along with a set of zodiac-themed red packets. The design of the Collector's Sheet is a modern take on the Chinese tradition of paper-cutting, one of China's oldest and most popular folk art. The commemorative stamp itself features the Chinese character 鼠 (Rat).
