The annual Singapore Youth Festival (SYF), which began in 1966 and officially launched on 18 Jul 1967 by the first President of Singapore Yusof Ishak, celebrates the rich diversity of youth talent in schools in Singapore. The spirit and essence of this long-established festival is centred on encouraging the nation's youth to collaboratively learn, grow and build bonds of friendships while engaging with the wider community in and beyond arts. This stamp issue by Singapore Post, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, celebrates the 50th anniversary of SYF in 2016. The stamp series themed YOUTHforia! comprises five designs that symbolise the dynamism and energy of youths and their artistic pursuits in arts, dance, drama and music.
