Singapore Post has teamed up with the National Heritage Board (NHB) to come up with this stamp set, called Myths and Legends, that depicts folklore from Singapore's Southern islands. These stamps unfold some of the most intriguing myths and legends of Singapore, folk tales that are passed down generation to generation. The four stamps in this issue tell the story of a mysterious turtle that has saved the life of fishermen during various storms. The turtle disappeared after saving these fishermen and never to be seen again. It was believed that people who later visited the island, now called Kusu or Turtle Island, have seen the magnificent creature resting on the shores under the peaceful, sunny sky.
