A wedding is one of the most significant milestones in life, and jewellery has always held a special place in Asian weddings, where gold is the precious metal of choice, beautifully crafted by artisans and embellished with precious and semiprecious gemstones. This stamp issue by Singapore Post on Wedding Jewellery is inspired by the rich ethnic traditions of Singapore, and it features four exquisite and intricate necklaces – a Heavenly Match necklace, part of the Si Dian Jin 四点金 set of dowry jewellery of the Chinese; a Peranakan Intan necklace with flora and fauna motifs; a mangalsutra, one of the many jewellery items worn by an Indian bride; as well as My Fair Lady, whose design is inspired by jewellery worn by members of the Eurasian community.
